Steps to Revamping Your Instagram

Is your Instagram dull? Are you getting little engagement? Here are some tips on how to revamp your Instagram and make it more aesthetically pleasing!

  1. Make sure you have a killer bio.

Your bio is the very first thing someone sees when they come across your page. After reading it they should have a clear idea of what you do. The goal is to consider who your target audience is and what you offer. Add in keywords whenever possible. Although hashtags are the primary source of search optimization. Keywords will still assist in your profile showing up under relevant searches. We’ve seen quite a few bios that were very unclear, here are some before and after examples:

Before: Digital Marketing Agency This bio tells you what kind of company they are but, Doesn’t tell you who they cater to or what their Call to Action (CTA) is.
After: Marketing Agency helping small businesses by producing creative content for all social channels.

Before: Virtual Lawyer, Contact me for your needs. This bio tells you what they are (a virtual lawyer) but, doesn’t tell you who they serve, or what kind of clientele should contact them.
After: Lawyer for Creatives + Freelancers. Helping you understand contracts, trademarks, and operating agreements.

This bio tells you what they are, who they cater to, what they specialize in, and how to contact them.

Moral of the story is make sure your audience has a clear idea of who you are, what you do, what you offer, and how to reach you.

2. Two words: Consistent Photos.

I don’t mean that all your photos have to be the exact same. What I am referring to is there should be some type of consistency, color scheme, or thought behind your content. This helps keep you recognizable when someone is scrolling through their feed. That person will be more likely to stop and view your content. An easy way to ensure this is to get a photo preset and plan the intent behind your content with a marketing content calendar.

A preset is essentially a filter that can be applied to all your photos to ensure they have a consistent color scheme. Keep in mind it can be helpful to have your photos consistent in other ways.

For example, if you’re going for a “light and airy” or white and blue theme, make sure there is white and blue in your photos. That can be anything from the background to the clothes you are wearing.

It takes some thought and effort but, it’s worth it! We highly suggest looking into getting a custom preset (which, is a service we do offer!) that way you can get one that works well with your skin tone, eye color, and hair color as well as the theme you’d like to accomplish.

3. Add Story Highlight Covers.

Think of stories as content you want your audience to be able to go back to and reference after the 24 hour time-lapse on your story has passed.  This can include a glimpse of your day or a “day in the life”, Q & A, “How To’s” and much more. Anything you want your audience to see more than 24 hours, save it to your story highlights.

You can easily create story highlight covers on Instagram or if you want to put a little more effort into it, check out Canva as they have plenty of templates to choose from and customize.
